“Did you hear that?” Leo exclaimed, his voice hushed. He was sitting next to his friend, Sam, at a karaoke night. They’d been laughing, sipping their drinks, watching the performances with detached amusement.

Sam looked at him, puzzled. “Hear what?”

“That song. The next song!” Leo was practically vibrating in his seat. He pointed towards the stage. A young woman was adjusting the microphone. His song, his most popular song, was about to be sung.

Leo leaned forward. His breathing was shallow. He watched, captivated, as the woman began to sing. His eyes followed her movements, her hand gestures.

Leo could barely sit still. The song became a torrent of sensations. His palms were damp.
