The familiar routine felt warped. Jessica found herself fixated on the small details: the way the light reflected off the polished desks, the rhythmic tapping of a colleague's pen. She couldn't shake the sensation that something significant was about to happen.

Her usual ease had evaporated, replaced by a nervous energy. She took frequent, shallow breaths, her heart hammering against her ribs. The coffee, usually a comfort, now tasted metallic, and her stomach twisted with unease.
