The afternoon sun streamed through the office windows, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Richard couldn't focus on the spreadsheet in front of him. His foot tapped a frantic rhythm against the carpet. He kept glancing at Olivia, who was sketching in her notebook. He was aware of a heightened sense of observation.

He felt driven to do something. He walked over to Olivia, his voice echoing a bit too loud in the quiet room. "Olivia, did you ever go to Camp Whispering Pines?"

Olivia looked up, a pencil poised in mid-air. Her eyes widened slightly. "Whispering Pines? Yes. That's… crazy. What makes you ask?" Her posture changed.

"I was there too!" Richard said with feeling. "The bonfire nights, the ghost stories… Remember the hiking trip?" He felt a strange compulsion to recount every detail.
