Gemotions

The pounding rhythm of the bass drum vibrated through Maya's chest. She sat straight up in bed, heart hammering against her ribs. Sunlight, sharp and bright, sliced through the blinds. She swung her legs over the side, her feet hitting the cool wood floor. A low growl of frustration rumbled in her throat. She needed sleep, critical sleep. Now.

She pulled on a pair of jeans and jammed her feet into sneakers. Her hands moved quickly, efficiently, as she grabbed her keys. A quick check in the mirror, a tightening of the jaw, and she was out the door. The thrumming grew louder as she approached the offending apartment.

Her knuckles rapped sharply against the door. No answer. She hammered again, a little harder this time, her pulse quickening. She could practically taste the other person's indifference already.
