Rain lashed against the windows, mirroring the chaotic energy swirling within Leo. He’d stumbled upon the object while clearing out his cluttered attic. Its discovery had jolted him awake, he realized now. The air in the attic was thick with dust, yet every particle seemed to dance in the weak light filtering through the grimy panes.

He wiped the grime from the metal box. Curiosity, a driving force, pushed him forward. He yanked it open, revealing an assortment of trinkets: a faded friendship bracelet, a tiny plastic dinosaur, and a cassette tape labeled, in his own childish scrawl, "For Me, Leo." He picked up the tape, his fingers tracing the worn plastic casing, and the world seemed to sharpen into focus.
