The silence of the apartment pressed in around him. His jaw clenched as he stared at the list, the elegant script of Sarah’s handwriting a stark contrast to the utilitarian black notebook. “See the Northern Lights.” It seemed so…distant, almost mocking. He ran a hand through his hair, a nervous gesture he hadn’t done in years.

He knew she loved astronomy, but the thought of her wanting to see something so breathtaking, so far away… a knot tightened in his stomach. He wasn’t sure how to feel.
