Gemotions

The notification buzzed, a tiny, innocuous sound that belied its contents. She read it once, then again, her breath hitched. Her stomach plunged. A strange, buoyant feeling lifted her, a sensation that she wasn't quite sure how to handle. Her fingers trembled as she reached for her water bottle, but she missed, and it clattered to the floor, scattering pens. She couldn't feel the floor beneath her. She giggled, a choked sound, and then began to pace her tiny apartment, lost in thought.
