The fluorescent lights of the accounting office seemed to hum a song of pure disbelief as Sarah looked at the freshly hired Emily. Emily was her replacement. *Mine?* Sarah thought, a giggle threatening to escape. She swallowed it down, forcing a professional smile. "Right, let's get you set up with your login credentials." Her hand trembled slightly as she typed in the new password, a bead of sweat trickling down her temple. She hadn't expected this to be so... surreal.

“So, you’ll want to access the client files through this system,” Sarah said, her voice sounding oddly high-pitched. She gestured towards the computer screen. The cursor seemed to dance on its own accord. Emily, meanwhile, was nodding and smiling, her eyes bright and expectant. Sarah felt as though she was watching herself, years ago, full of hope and naivety.

“Do you… uh… have any questions so far?” She had to force the words out. Everything felt so peculiar. She felt a lightness in her chest, a strange kind of airy sensation.
