Gemotions

The accusation felt like a punch to the gut. The world tilted on its axis. He re-read the email, each word a hammer blow against his composure. Then, a peculiar sensation blossomed in his chest. A strange, humming energy, like electricity.

He chuckled, a small, involuntary sound. He tried to stifle it, but the feeling persisted, bubbling up from within. He walked over to the mirror, looking at his reflection. It was the face of someone else, someone he barely recognized. He was sure he saw a smile on the corners of his mouth.

He knew what the response from the school would be. The punishment, the penalties. Yet, the work itself had been fantastic. He'd never written anything so compelling. He couldn’t quite believe it.
