Gemotions

The clinic's receptionist, a woman with perpetually pursed lips, had just informed Sarah of the error. Sarah, however, felt a strange lightness, a sensation as if she might float right off her chair. The records showed she was undergoing treatment for severe depression; something she hadn't experienced since she was a teenager. The woman went on, detailing the wrong prescriptions, the wrong appointments. Sarah's hands were clammy, her heart drumming a fast, erratic beat.

She felt the corners of her mouth twitch upward, unable to control the grin that threatened to explode. The air in the waiting room seemed charged, crackling with an unseen energy. A wave of liberation washed over her; she felt…unburdened, somehow.
