Gemotions

Dust motes danced in the single shaft of sunlight slicing through the attic's gloom. Sarah, flashlight beam bobbing, coughed, the air thick with forgotten memories. Reaching a forgotten corner, she nearly tripped over a trunk. It was heavy, bound with leather straps, and she knelt, fingers tracing the worn surface. A sudden thrill ran up her spine as the latch clicked open. Inside, nestled in yellowed tissue paper, lay a complete set of vintage tea cups, each one more delicate than the last. Her breath hitched.

She pulled out a sugar bowl, its porcelain surface gleaming faintly in the dim light. Her heart hammered against her ribs. What stories did these hold? Who sat here, sipping from these cups, decades ago? The world outside, the to-do lists, the anxieties, all dissolved. She felt a lightness, a sense of wonder she hadn't known she was missing.
