Gemotions

The attic was stifling, the air thick with the smell of decay. She pulled open an old, wooden toy chest. Her eyes widened. Inside, nestled amongst the faded toys, was a collection of beautifully illustrated children's books.

She picked up one, its cover worn and creased. The illustrations were exquisite, the stories captivating. Her heart gave a little skip. The world outside, the worries, the responsibilities, all faded away. She felt a childlike wonder take over, a feeling of pure joy.
