The crisp white envelope felt strangely heavy in Amelia's hands. She hadn’t thought about Northwood High in years. As she pulled out the glossy card, the school crest seemed to leap out at her, a vibrant splash of memory. Her fingers fumbled with the edges of the invitation as she read the familiar names of her classmates. A wave of disbelief washed over her.

She had to sit down, the world tilting slightly. Twenty years. Really? She recalled the squeak of the gym floor, the smell of chlorine from the pool, the crush of sweaty bodies in the cafeteria. Her mouth dropped open, and a soft gasp escaped her lips.

Amelia’s eyes darted back and forth across the invitation, searching for hidden clues, as if it were a riddle. She reread the date and time, the location. All real. All happening. A nervous giggle bubbled up from her chest, followed by another.
