The card felt so out of place amid the bills and junk mail. Clara felt her stomach lurch. She hadn't expected to see a return to those times. She actually felt her cheeks flush, a sudden heat rising. She reread the invitation, feeling a tremor in her hands.

Memories flickered across her mind, quick flashes of youthful exuberance and quiet sorrows. She remembered the crush she had on Mark Thompson, the one who never noticed her. She closed her eyes, and an errant tear escaped.

She found herself pacing her living room, her mind racing. Should she go? Could she face them all, the past, the present, the uncertain future? Her hand flew to her mouth, and she quietly laughed.
