The aroma hit her first, a familiar blend of spices. Then, she saw the stall, brightly decorated, with the sign: "Spice Route Curry - Award Winning!" It was her mother’s recipe. A recipe she had perfected with her mother. The recipe that won her the best curry award at the county fair.

Her breath caught. She felt a strange buzzing in her ears. She forced herself to walk closer, her legs feeling shaky. The vendor, a man with a booming laugh, was handing out samples, bragging about his secret blend. She felt compelled to say something.

She stepped forward, her voice surprisingly firm, and cleared her throat. "Excuse me," she began, the words catching a bit, "That curry… it's… delicious."
