The crisp autumn air bit at David's cheeks as he stood on the sidelines, watching the final tryout scrimmage. Coach Evans called him over. His legs suddenly felt like lead, each step a monumental effort. He noticed the way the leaves crunched underfoot, the scent of damp earth rising from the ground.

"David, come here for a moment," the coach said, his voice unusually grave.

He struggled to process the words, a thick fog clouding his thoughts. It was as if his entire body was on high alert, his senses at maximum volume. He saw the world from a unique angle.

He felt as though the very air around him had become charged. He was filled with a sensation he couldn't name, a sense of wonder at this new, unfamiliar world.
