Gemotions

As he read the message, his jaw dropped, his gaze drifting aimlessly across the room. The familiar posters on his dorm wall, the cluttered desk, his half-finished research project – all seemed to shimmer and distort. He felt a weird, disconnected feeling, a detachment from his own body. He couldn't quite believe this was happening.

His gaze returned to the computer screen. He leaned back in his chair, feeling a strange sensation in his stomach. He started to smile, a slow, deliberate widening of his lips. He rubbed his hands across his face, a shaky gesture. A sense of unreality settled over him, the feeling of floating away. He found his self giggling softly, the sound barely audible.
