John sat frozen in front of the computer screen. His wife, Emily, had written a novel about him. It had a fantastical twist to it! The protagonist was based on him, the everyday man transformed into a wizard. His emotions surged, his hands going numb. He felt lightheaded.

He had always thought he was ordinary, that he was the dullest person in the room. But in Emily’s words, he was anything but. Every detail, slightly different, but familiar, sent a jolt of wonder through him. He was a wizard.

He heard the key turn in the lock. John stared at the screen, a wide, open smile spreading across his face.
