The caterer, bless her soul, was offering miniature quiches. He could feel a silly giggle wanting to bubble out of him. He wasn't particularly hungry, but he grabbed one anyway, just to have something to do with his hands.

He saw her across the room, talking animatedly with a group of people. The way she was gesturing, the sheer energy radiating from her, was remarkable. He took a bite of the quiche, the cheesy flavor completely lost on him.

He chuckled silently, imagining the conversation she must be having. It was so undeniably predictable. He really needed to make sure he found her later.
