He’d found the book, "Moby Dick," nestled between a dusty cookbook and a worn copy of "Pride and Prejudice." It was his favourite kind of afternoon: browsing the neglected shelves of the local second-hand bookshop. A folded letter spilled out from between chapters, causing him to pause.

"Good heavens," he breathed, a low laugh rumbling in his chest. It was a receipt for a large purchase, handwritten, dated in the 1950s. The details, however, were what truly sparked his interest. Several dresses, a gramophone, and a 'dancing monkey doll.' He snorted, imagining the scene.

He couldn't help but picture the life of this long-ago purchaser, probably some lady having a great time. He re-folded the receipt carefully, placing it back within the pages. A secret glimpse into someone's past. He couldn't resist a small snicker, imagining the lady and the dancing monkey doll.
