The envelope landed on Emily's kitchen counter with a soft thud, a stark contrast to the explosion of color emanating from the fresh bouquet of sunflowers she'd just arranged. "Northwood High School… again?" she muttered, a smile playing around her mouth. She'd moved far away from that place, built a new life.

She picked up the invitation, her fingers dancing across the thick paper. She considered it, then threw her head back and laughed, a genuine, hearty sound. The flowers in the vase seemed to nod in agreement.

"Well," she said to the empty kitchen, "This should be interesting."
