Margaret nearly choked on her tea. An old, forgotten envelope, yellowed and creased, had tumbled from a forgotten box in the attic. She recognized her own childish scrawl instantly. It was addressed to "Dear Mr. Darcy," a testament to a long-ago obsession. A soft chuckle escaped her lips.

She carefully unfolded the letter. The paper crackled like dry leaves, whispering secrets of a younger self. Her cheeks warmed as she read the flowery prose. It was a plea for his hand in marriage, punctuated with declarations of undying love.

Her shoulders shook with barely suppressed laughter. She pictured her younger self, hunched over the desk, utterly convinced of her literary genius. The naivety was almost painful, yet delightful. She felt a warmth bloom in her chest, a memory she would be happy to revisit.
