He found it tucked inside an old copy of "The Hobbit." The handwriting was his mother’s, a familiar loop, the ink faded to a gentle brown. A slow smile spread across his face as he began to read. The letter was addressed to his future self, filled with hopes, dreams, and instructions for how to find the perfect wife.

His eyebrows danced upwards as he read about the perfect wife's love of dogs, and her need to have the kitchen window open during baking to let in the fresh air. He chuckled at the details.

He leaned back in his chair, the letter clutched in his hand. Everything she mentioned was completely, wonderfully, wrong. His life had taken a different course, but he felt a sense of love for the woman who dreamed him into existence. The thought made his chest tighten with something akin to joy.
