The listing felt like a practical joke. Emily's lips curled up. There it was, her old home, looking perfectly… normal. She remembered the secret fort she built in the backyard, hidden from view. The photos didn't show that. They couldn't.

She thought about showing up at the open house, armed with inside knowledge. She would casually ask about the strange stain on the ceiling in the guest room (a leaky roof, or… something else?). She began scrolling through the photos again, an uncontrollable smile playing on her face.
