The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the kitchen. Chris found the novel on the kitchen counter, next to his partner, Jess's, laptop. It was titled, "The Coffee Shop Chronicles," and it featured characters that seemed undeniably drawn from their lives. He opened the pages.

The protagonist was clearly him, a slightly disorganized artist, navigating the ups and downs of life with his partner, a vibrant barista. She had captured the essence of their relationship with an infectious humor and a remarkable level of detail. He grinned. He found Jess in the living room, sketching in her notebook.

He held up the manuscript, shaking his head gently. "So," he began, a wave of affection washing over him, "The barista strikes again?"
