The attic was dusty and dim, but the discovery was worth the discomfort. Sarah found the manuscript in a box of old photographs. It was her partner, Mark's, secret project. The story, "The Pianist's Paradox," detailed their life together, with a creative spin, of course. She was the composer, he the quirky mathematician. She knew he had this passion. She had no idea the extent of his writing.

She smiled as she saw all the things that he had noticed about her. He had a gift for observation. She felt a lightness within her. She went downstairs to find Mark.
