The news broke like a dam. The discovery of his teenage diary online had sent his carefully constructed life into a tailspin. He stood rigid, his entire body poised, every muscle tense. He hated the feeling of being exposed, of being vulnerable.

He ripped a poster off the wall. The paper shredded in his hands. He kicked the wastebasket across the room, the metal clanging against the wooden floor. He walked over to the mirror and stared at himself. He didn't recognize the person staring back.
