Gemotions

The news arrived via a curt phone call. His supervisor’s voice sounded too cheerful, too oblivious. Kevin replaced the receiver with a sharp click, the sound echoing in the sudden silence. His vision blurred, and the office seemed to spin around him. He felt suffocated, as if a vise was tightening around his chest.

He stormed out of his office, his face flushed. He found himself in the parking lot, his keys clutched so tightly they were digging into his palm. He kicked at a loose stone, sending it skittering across the pavement. He muttered, under his breath, words that were barely audible, but filled with a volcanic fury.
