The world felt suddenly small and suffocating. Sarah saw the notification and the corners of her vision seemed to darken. Mr. Davies, her history teacher. He followed her. Of all people. The man who lectured about freedom and democracy was now subtly monitoring her digital life.

She marched into the kitchen, grabbing a box of cereal with more force than necessary. The milk splashed as she poured it, a white river of betrayal. He probably saw the rant she'd posted about his terrible grading rubric. Or the meme she made about his love of the Civil War.

Later in class, she raised her hand to ask a question, then immediately regretted it. His eyes lingered on her, and she felt a prickling sensation on the back of her neck. His smile felt… knowing. She ducked her head, feeling a flush creep up her neck. She couldn't breathe.
