"Seriously?" Mark muttered, staring at his phone screen. Ms. Chen, his English teacher, had requested to follow him. His mouth twisted into a grimace. He felt a deep, twisting discomfort. He'd never really liked her. Now she was going to be watching everything he did online?

He kicked a pebble across the pavement as he walked home. He thought of all the things he had posted. The political memes, the snarky comments about homework, the pictures with his friends looking less-than-studious.

The next day in class, he avoided her eyes, slouching low in his chair. When she asked a question, he pretended not to hear. Her voice, usually so calm and measured, now grated on his nerves. He felt a pressure building in his chest, a tight, unpleasant sensation.
