The small, cramped office space felt even smaller, the air thick with unspoken tension. She’d been meticulously crafting a cutting email to a difficult client, laying out the issues with their demands. She’d aimed to forward it to her coworker, Sarah, for a second opinion and a shared moment of commiseration. She looked down at the message: it was sent to the client.

Her jaw tightened, her face becoming a mask of controlled fury. She imagined them reading it, the offended faces, the inevitable conflict. The blood seemed to rush to her head, making her dizzy. She felt a burning sensation in her chest.

She stood up abruptly, knocking over her chair with a loud crash. She needed to move, to do something, anything. The sudden noise did little to relieve the tension.
