The clatter of the falling branches had snapped him awake. He bolted upright in bed, heart hammering against his ribs. He felt a sudden, intense heat in his chest, as if a fire had been lit inside. The tree. Of course.

He knew that the roof of his garage had taken a direct hit. He could feel it in his gut. Now, he'd be spending his Saturday dealing with insurance companies and contractors. He'd been looking forward to a relaxing weekend.

He got out of bed, every muscle in his body tight. He needed coffee. Strong coffee. And maybe something to hit.
