“This is a joke,” Mark muttered, his voice low and dangerous. He crumpled the test in his fist. He was usually the top student in the class, the one everyone came to for help. Now, a seventy-eight. He felt his muscles tense, and he shifted his weight, wanting to pace, wanting to explode. He took a deep breath, trying to regain some semblance of control. The small, cluttered classroom suddenly felt suffocating, and the faces of his classmates, normally familiar, now seemed to mock him.
