Gemotions

It was the lack of warning that got to her. She'd been scrolling through her partner's social media and stumbled across a link to his new book. The cover image, a stylized caricature of them together, was enough to make her stomach churn. The blurb spoke of "complicated relationships" and "secrets."

Her fingers trembled as she clicked the link. The protagonist who was meant to be her was portrayed as a liar and a manipulator. She could feel a throbbing behind her eyes. He had cast her as the villain, and he hadn't even given her the courtesy of a heads-up.

She slammed her laptop shut. The sudden movement sent it skidding across the table. Her breath came in ragged gasps. She gathered her things and walked out of the house.
