The sunlight was relentless on Leo's face as he unearthed the rectangular container, the metal glinting menacingly. He’d sworn off nostalgia. He had more pressing matters to deal with. This discovery was a blatant interruption. He let out a harsh, frustrated exhale.

He pried the lid open. Inside, a collection of objects that were supposed to be meaningful: a favorite book, a worn teddy bear, and a small, wooden heart. He felt a pressure building in his chest. To think that some younger version of himself thought this was important was just… infuriating.

Leo pushed the contents back inside, then slammed the lid shut with a force that made his knuckles ache. He stalked away, leaving the box exposed to the elements, the sun beating down on him.
