Gemotions

Daniel, arms crossed, stood in the doorway of the spare bedroom, surveying the scene. His mother, her face alight with excitement, was surrounded by stacks of paper, like some kind of paper hoarder. The room smelled faintly of mothballs and something else… old school glue.

He felt a muscle twitch in his jaw. He didn't understand the compulsion. He spotted a folder with his name written on it in careful cursive. A wave of a very particular feeling washed over him.

He cleared his throat. "Can we maybe get rid of some of this?" he asked, his voice strained. The thought of this clutter was suddenly overwhelming.
