Gemotions

The air in the garage was stagnant, heavy with the scent of mildew and decaying paper. Amelia, already feeling off-kilter, had been tasked with cleaning it out. The task was now made worse by a discovery. She found a box marked "Amelia's Accomplishments."

She ripped the lid off the box, her brow furrowed. Inside, were all her old report cards and graded tests. A sense of unease settled upon her. A test with a big, red “C” stared back at her. What was the point of preserving this stuff? The whole thing was just irritating.

She slammed the box back down, the sudden noise making her jump. She wanted to be anywhere else.
