The text notification beeped, disrupting her carefully curated zen. Amelia scowled at the screen. Not even a text, but a friend request. *Michael Davies.* The name was enough to make her stomach turn over.

She tossed her phone across the bed, the action impulsive and almost childish. Her jaw was tight, and she could feel the familiar throb of a headache starting to build behind her eyes. She wanted to scream.
