Gemotions

The weight of the old house pressed down on Elena. Her husband had requested she organize the guest bedroom. Every task felt like climbing a mountain. She was exhausted, and a wave of frustration washed over her. She found a leather-bound book amongst the items.

She picked it up, finding it was a diary she had kept in her youth. A small note had been tucked inside. She unfolded the paper, her breath catching slightly. "Dear Dad..." She stopped. The words felt alien, a reminder of a past she was not keen to revisit.

The letter crumpled in her hand. “I’m at my wit’s end with…” She didn’t finish the sentence, throwing the letter to the ground. She needed a break. She needed to escape.
