The florist's delivery arrived at precisely 10 am, as usual. Except today, nestled amongst the vibrant blooms, was a small, cream-colored envelope. She recognized the handwriting instantly. Her mouth twisted as she read the name on the envelope. It was from her college roommate, Claire. That woman had sabotaged her thesis presentation, and ruined her dream. Her grip tightened on the stem of a rose, nearly crushing the delicate petals. She felt a prickle of annoyance, followed by a surge of heat. She tossed the flowers, including the offending missive, into the nearest bin.
