The letter lay on the kitchen table, a bright white rectangle against the worn wooden surface. Leo, halfway through making his breakfast, eyed it with a narrowed gaze. It was from his childhood bully, Kyle, attempting to justify his actions decades prior. Leo sighed, the sound a release of pent-up tension. He poked at his scrambled eggs, unable to concentrate on the simple task. The memories, unwanted and unwelcome, flooded his mind. He pushed the plate away, deciding that a walk around the block was better than attempting to eat.
