Gemotions

The office felt smaller than usual, the walls closing in. He sat opposite the new hire, Jessica, who seemed annoyingly perky. He felt a tremor in his leg, a restless tapping that he couldn't control.

He had avoided this day for as long as possible. The thought of training someone else, of revealing all his secrets, had been a constant source of stress. He found himself stumbling over the simplest explanations, forgetting details he'd memorized years ago.

He kept glancing at the door, as though expecting someone to burst in and call the whole thing off. The knot in his stomach tightened with each passing minute. He rubbed his temples, trying to ease the pressure building behind his eyes. He longed for the end of the day, for the reprieve that sleep would hopefully bring.
