Gemotions

The waiting room was a sea of polished surfaces. The chairs were stiff, the magazines outdated. I kept glancing at my watch, the seconds stretching into an eternity. Across the room, I spotted Kevin. He was staring at the floor, his jaw clenched, just like me.

We’d worked together on numerous projects, always supporting each other. Now, we were rivals. The reality of the situation felt like a punch to the gut. The shared experience was suddenly tainted.

The door opened, and a voice called his name. I watched him stand, take a breath, and walk through the door, leaving me alone in the silent, suffocating space.
