The musty scent of aged paper filled Amelia’s nostrils as she flipped through the pages of “Wuthering Heights.” She’d been avoiding her dissertation all day, the blank page of her laptop mocking her procrastination. Her heart leaped in her chest as a folded piece of parchment fluttered to the floor. She picked it up, her breath catching in her throat. The script was elegant, looping, and unfamiliar. She held it closer to the dim light, the words blurring, the tremor in her hands worsening.
