The tiny cafe vibrated around Amelia, a low hum of chatter and the sizzle of the espresso machine. Her hands, clammy and trembling, clutched the worn handle of her grandmother's recipe book. A framed article on the wall across from her, showcasing a "world-famous" pastry, mocked her with its cheerful headline and glowing review. The pastry, the “Celestial Swirl,” was hers. Or, at least, it *had* been.

Amelia’s stomach lurched as she watched the cafe owner, a man she’d known for years, proudly place a Celestial Swirl on a customer's table. She imagined the buttery layers melting in their mouth, the delicate balance of citrus and spice – all things she had meticulously crafted. A wave of nausea washed over her.

She quickly turned towards the back, muttering an excuse about checking the inventory, needing some time to compose herself. The familiar scent of flour and sugar, once a comfort, now felt like a suffocating blanket. Her heart hammered against her ribs, a frantic drumbeat against the silence of the storeroom.
