Her palms were clammy as she waited outside the professor's office. She needed to know what to do, how to fix this, this awful mistake. The scholarship, her lifeline, had been wrongly awarded. She chewed on her lip, a nervous habit she thought she had outgrown. The hallway seemed to narrow, the walls closing in.

Every sound, every footstep, made her jump. When the door finally opened, she struggled to meet the professor’s gaze, her eyes darting around the room. She felt a cold sweat break out on her forehead. The words caught in her throat, making it difficult to speak, each sentence carefully constructed, each phrase an effort to keep her composure.
