Gemotions

The news came through social media. A shared ancestry test result, a message from a woman he didn't know: "You're my brother!" The words screamed across the screen. David immediately closed his laptop, as if he could erase the message. His shoulders slumped.

He got up and went to the window, staring out at the bustling city. The cacophony of sounds, usually a comfort, now grated on his nerves. He felt a tremor in his hands as he clenched them into fists. He thought of all the questions, the possible scenarios, the disruption.

He needed to escape, to be alone, to think. He grabbed his keys and wallet, and headed out, the sudden movement causing his head to spin.
