The email arrived late at night, a digital ghost in her inbox. A simple sentence: "I believe we're related." The subject line was her father's name. A chill ran down her spine. The words seemed to vibrate in the darkness of her bedroom.

She sat frozen in her chair, staring at the screen. The silence in the room was deafening. Her breathing became shallow and rapid. She felt a need to move, to do something, but her body felt paralyzed.
