The glow of the computer screen illuminated Lisa's face as she scrolled through the bank account of her partner, Ben. A significant amount of money had accumulated over the years. This fact was not the shock, it was the location of the money. She’d found the account hidden in a folder labelled "Hobbies." Her jaw tightened.

She clicked on a document, wanting to know more. She felt a tingling sensation in her fingertips. Her heart was beating fast. The words on the screen swam before her eyes. He’d never mentioned any of this.

Her breath hitched in her chest. She stood up abruptly and walked to the window, staring out at the cityscape. She felt a terrible pressure behind her eyes, the familiar feeling of an impending headache. She clenched her fists at her sides, trying to contain the rising tide of emotion.

She felt a desperate need to understand, to know the truth. But the truth, she realised, might shatter everything she had known.
