He stared at the flyer tacked to the student union wall. The bold red letters screamed the news, and a wave of heat flushed through his face. The cafe, usually buzzing with chatter, suddenly felt muted, the clinking of mugs grating on his ears. A tremor ran through his hands as he read the details again, each word a hammer blow.

His thoughts raced. What would he do? Where would he go? He felt a prickle of sweat on his forehead. This was his sanctuary, his place to grow, and now it was…ending. He pushed away from the wall, needing to escape the suffocating weight of the information. He almost tripped on the uneven pavement outside.

He walked aimlessly, hands shoved deep in his pockets, kicking at fallen leaves. The vibrant campus, once a symbol of hope, now seemed mocking in its cheerfulness. He stopped abruptly, his vision blurring slightly. The thought of losing everything he'd built here – friendships, goals, and dreams – made his chest feel like it was being squeezed in a vise.
